Course Description

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) provide out-of-hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical services (EMS) system. Primary purpose of this course is to meet the entry-level job expectations.

You will:

  • Gain basic knowledge/skills to stabilize and safely transport patients
  • Become a critical link between the scene of an emergency and the health care system

Upon successful completion, you will be authorized to take the NREMT cognitive examination to earn the NREMT EMT Certification.

Non-credit training programs are designed by a team of professionals from each respective field, providing you with effective face-to-face and web-based learning programs. Instructors/course mentors are actively involved in your learning experience, responding to any questions or concerns, as well as encouraging and motivating you to succeed. The training programs offered through Workforce Development are not part of academic degree programs.

Credit for Prior Learning: Upon successfully passing the NREMT EMT Certification exam, candidates are eligible to be awarded 6 credits (HLSC 199) in health science at Commonwealth University of PA.
