0037 - Auctioneering Program
Course Description
Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania is approved as a Group A Auction School.
The Auctioneering Program includes six three credit hour courses to make up 240 classroom hours and one two credit hour courses for the Practicum to make up the 60 hours outside the classroom.
PRACTICUM
In the auctioneering program, the students will take part in a minimum of 60 hours "hands on" experience in the auction business under the supervision of the college with an approved PA licensed auctioneer. In addition, discussions will be held regarding practical and theoretical problems and observations encountered by the student while working an auction. A practicum booklet must also be completed and submitted at the conclusion of the program. Also, the students will be required to participate in an online student auction, or an onsite student auction conducted solely by them and under the supervision of approved PA licensed auctioneers.
AUCTION COMMUNICATION
The techniques of communicating with large and small groups as well as developing a personal style of chant.
PROCUREMENT AND APPRAISAL OF PERSONAL PROPERTY
The Principles, techniques, and procedures used to procure, appraise, market, and sell antiques, general household goods, furniture and coins.
PROCUREMENT AND EVALUATION OF SELLING REAL ESTATE AT PUBLIC AUCTION
Procedures used to procure and evaluate real estate. It also discusses farm and livestock auctions.
AUCTION LAW
Record keeping; formulating contracts, Pennsylvania and federal laws and regulations as they apply to auctioneers.
PREPARATION FOR THE AUCTION
Record keeping and formulating business and marketing plans and creating marketing and sales strategies.
THE AUCTION
The techniques and procedures necessary to conduct and conclude and auction.
